Bite Jump visualisation can occur in Class II correction (lower dentition jumping forwards), Class III correction, vertical and transversal bite jump are possible.
However, what does it truly represent?
1. If viewed as bite correction “throughout treatment” then the software will spread the A-P correction throughout the aligners. This will give an indication of how the patient is tracking, whether they are matching the software with the amount of A-P correction.
2. If viewed as a single simulation jump “at end of treatment”, this will indicate if the patient is non-complaint with elastics then the resulting occlusion will be the visuals prior to the jump.
3. If viewed “at start of treatment”, this will give the dentist an indication of whether the patient is suitable for surgery-first option.
Most importantly, it is important to understand that these are all digital simulations and often not accurate as it involves many variables and compliance from the patient. It can be a useful guide for the clinician and a powerful visualisation tool for the patient.
